Australia, are undergoing an economic revolution of their own it becomes apparent that their part of the world became more important and their country may be about to come of age, and China’s role in Africa has been changing dramatically in the last few years..

But the most surprising relationship is emerging. After a painful and socially damaging reshaping of their political system and economy, to suit the growth their banking system and resources the tar sands energy boom produced, Canada are at now well placed to enjoy the benefits of a changing global economy and apparently have a blossoming relationship with China.

Their historic reliance on the enormous markets close to home is changing and their economic revolution while it has been painful, has ensured they are well placed to see the benefit of Asian markets opening up. The *ahem* uncontroversial pipeline linking the Alberta tar sands to the Gulf of Mexico is now out of the question. Obama might have told ‘em not to bother, but the Chinese don’t seem averse. There are now proposals for a pipeline from Northern British Columbia, directly to the Pacific Coast, and Chinese companies have already found their investment in Canadian energy welcomed. Stephen Harper, the Canadian Prime Minister says in the Financial Times today, that as long as the investment is commercially motivated it’s ok, and if the objectives were broader…lol

Because the objectives of state and companies separate out when oil is concerned, this may be an interesting narrative to watch develop in the coming year. One thing is for sure, while the those who ruled the waves are pissing in the wind pretending to firefight, the rest of the world is presented with opportunity. Mr.Harper hopes there doesn’t come a day when the rest of the world has to rescue Europe…
